BOPAS lunch & learn session at Homes England – 23rd January

Patrick McNamara of Homes England hosted a lunch and Learn session at Homes England on 23rd January, which was facilitated by Buildoffsite.

Terry Mundy (BOPAS) and Jeff Maxted (BLP) presented on the vital role of BOPAS in the offsite market as the benchmark accreditation for Latent Defects Insurance which gives for bank lenders and the Council of Mortgage Lenders comfort on the high quality of BOPAS registered manufacturers and supply chain.

The Buildoffsite Property Assurance Scheme (BOPAS) is a risk based evaluation which demonstrates to funders, lenders, valuers and purchasers that homes built from non-traditional methods and materials will stand the test of time for at least 60 years. To find out more visit their website.

Clare McAnallen from Vision Modular talked us through Tide’s many impressive modular projects and noted their diversity in design, scale and use class. She emphasised what a positive process BOPAS creates, ensuring the necessary rigour of processes and quality of product. We were lucky to coincide with a visit from Rt Hon Esther McVey who was fielding questions from staff at Homes England HQ. Tom Eshelby, Housing Industry Advisor for Buildoffsite, highlighted the potential benefits of making it easier and more rewarding for Housing Associations to deliver their projects in MMC, thereby providing much-needed demand to the burgeoning UK offsite manufacturing industry.
