APPLY DfMA: A fresh look but still the same great service
Formed in 2017 and serving the offsite industry, Apply Structure Ltd is the result of the shared passion of its founders, Anthony Pearce, David Barber, and Stuart King. They each drew upon more than 15 years’ experience of designing, engineering, and manufacturing offsite buildings and understood the opportunities, pitfalls, and benefits very well.
The Offsite industry has frequently been self-critical of its constant evolution of buzz words and descriptors in a search to best describe what it does, how it does it and when to use it. The result is an often confusing, amorphic identity when compared to the traditional construction sector. The offsite sector as a whole is responsible for how it describes and promotes itself; Apply Structure recognised this and identified the need to change it’s own persona.
A vital element of offsite success is the harmonious combination of product, manufacturing, installation and finishing processes, otherwise known as Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA). The rebranding of Apply Structure to APPLY DfMA is an internal and external statement to underline the company’s focus and approach to the services provided to a sector that motivates its founders and people.
By using APPLY DfMA as a logo, it underlines the conviction that the principles of Design for Manufacture & Assembly and techniques used to deploy it are critical to success of the global offsite industry. A belief centred on successful experience of designing the right product, with the right materials, and the most appropriate manufacturing process, suitable for the intended market sector. From materials selection through the manufacturing cycle to installation and completion, each stage planned for efficiency within the specific overall process, demanding consideration and respect for the value added and the waste removed.
