What is the conference about?
This conference will launch the new DfMA Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work. The overlay helps architects and construction professionals understand what they need to do differently in each of the 8 stages of the project lifecycle if they are to successfully adopt Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) approach.
The DfMA Overlay is accompanied by a DfMA report that sets out the latest in thinking on MMC and DfMA for architects and construction professionals. The Overlay organises the core tasks that the profession needs to do differently through the process of briefing, designing, constructing and operating building projects if we are to effectively accelerate the uptake of MMC in line with current industry thinking and client requirements.
What will we cover?
You will be able to listen to and participate in debates with expert speakers and contributors to the overlay on key topics that have arisen during its production. There will also be a chance to hear about recent examples of best practice in DfMA.
