10.15   Transforming Construction programme – Sam Stacey, ISCF Challenge Director for Transforming Construction, UKRI

The Transforming Construction Programme, born out of the Construction Sector Deal, brought together industry and government to increase the construction industry’s benefit to society. By September this year investments of £170m and £250m will have been made by government and industry, respectively. The Programme has defined the value and platform approaches to construction, demonstrated numerous solutions and driven a fundamental change in procurement policy. Sam Stacey, the Programme Director, will present these outputs, and discuss the legacy of opportunities and threats for the industry stakeholders.

10.30  Update on government’s MMC projects – David Hancock, CIRIA Chairman and Director Construction at IPA within Cabinet Office

Dr David Hancock will provide an update of the latest plans for government MMC build projects including prisons, universities and schools. He will outline how MMC is helping aid the Government’s drive for standardisation, harmonisation and digitisation.

David will also touch on the impact of the pipeline programme and Construction Playbook.

10.45   Infrastructure overbuild – an update – Bill Price, Strategic Growth Director, WSP

Developers and transport stakeholders have continued to be interested in exploiting air-rights and overbuild opportunities in London and beyond. Bill Price of WSP will provide an update on UK activity in this sector as well as potential overseas projects.
