Key issues for UK construction

Central London

Meeting Start: 08.00

Meeting End: 13.30

Growth, policy developments and the future of the sector’s business model

This seminar will discuss the future for the UK construction industry following the publication of the Construction Sector Deal, which sets out the key policies and direction for the construction sector, and the next steps in driving forward industry improvement.

It follows a House of Lords Science and Technology Committee report which warns that the construction sector’s business models are not supporting the demand for new homes and infrastructure, and will look at meeting the skills needs of the construction industry – particularly looking at how best to utilise the £406m investment in STEM training, the future for retraining and retaining those within the sector through the National Retraining Scheme, and the development of new apprenticeship standards – with the Construction Sector Deal committing to implementation of the CITB review.
