Prefabrication 'speeds up construction'
Prefabrication speeds up construction and helps building
firms to meet deadlines, it has been implied.
Reporting on the building of a tunnel at a farm, Thoroughbred
News said the owners of the site expect the offsite construction will
help speed up the building of a new lodge.
"It is hoped that prefabrication of the tunnel and
stabling off-site will allow fast tracking of the work to allow the completion
dates to be met," the publication said.
The builders are trying to use offsite techniques to catch
up because the start of the lodge's construction was delayed by several
months.
Peter Snowden, a trainer at Warwick farm who is in charge
of the building of work going on at Crown Lodge, an Australian racetrack,
called the situation "diabolical", but offsite building could
save the day.
Offsite building can cut construction time by up to 25
per cent, according to the Herald-Times.
