Mid-Wales village 'could get new pod homes'
Residents of a village in Mid-Wales are being asked to
consider new plans for the development of new modular homes.
Exhibited in Castle Caereinion by the local community land
trust, the plans outline how ten new homes could be developed, which may
include a "copod", developed by Elements Europe, reports the
Shropshire Star.
"The pods are built as complete units and they're
also energy efficient," said Jonathan Brown, a representative of
Land for the People, a co-establisher of the local community land trust.
"It removes the necessity to have plumbers, electricians
and other secondary workers on-site because everything is completely finished,"
added Wayne Morgan of Elements Europe.
If approved for development, the new homes could be constructed
on land behind the village primary school.
Elements Europe also offers the solopod, designed for the
installation of bathroom, shower or kitchen facilities.
