Offsite manufacturer announces ambitious growth
plans
A Billingham timber frame construction firm has pledged
to transform itself into a £5 million business
over a period of three years.
On the back of 30 per cent predicted growth within the
timber frame construction sector, Datum believes it is well placed to
grow on the back of increasing interest in the industry, reports the Northern
Echo.
Established in 2001, the company currently employs ten
staff and generated a turnover of £500,000 during its first six
months.
"Timber-framed housing construction has many advantages
over more traditional masonry methods in that it is very quick to build,
can be erected in all weathers and [has a smaller carbon footprint], said
Simon Bliss, one of firm's founders.
Indeed, Datum has already secured advanced orders in the
north-east worth £2 million.
In 2006, the firm won an award for Best North East Manufacturer.
