Offsite building techniques, which make use of timber frame technology, are being used to construct a number of eco-homes in Northamptonshire, it has been reported.
Desborough's Peaselands development will feature nine three-bedroom green homes and Kingspan Off-site will be involved in the construction, according to Green Building Press.
Kingspan TEK will provide insulated wall panels for the houses, which have been given an excellent EcoHomes rating by the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (Breeam).
"This has been an interesting project for us," said Bill Knight, spokesman for ISG Jackson Special Projects, which is developing the houses.
"The development uses a combination of modern technologies, each designed to be fuel efficient and as kind to the environment as possible and resulting in an excellent EcoHomes rating."
According to Breeam, which carries out assessments on an independent basis, projects given excellent ratings are the best possible examples of sustainable design in the UK.
