A new hospital in St Helens, which is being built using both traditional onsite techniques and offsite modern methods of construction, was topped out this week, it has been reported.
Being built by Taylor Woodrow for the St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the hospital is scheduled to open in autumn later this year, according to HospitalHealthcare.com.
Project director Sean O'Driscoll said: "This is a key milestone for our team and the culmination of a great deal of hard work by local people for local people.
"Hundreds of people are working together both on and off site to create an exceptional new hospital."
Mr O'Driscoll added that seeing the building coming into fruition is "rewarding" to the local community and everyone involved.
Taylor Woodrow has done offsite work in the past, such as in its construction of a new spectator stand at the Brit Oval in 2004.
